In The Veritable Key of Solomon there is a solar pentacle associated with the Angel Verchiel (sometimes spelled Verkiel), of the Sun in Leo, for winning lawsuits. As someone who not only makes pentacles professionally, but also directs a lot of magic towards helping others, I was intrigued by the description of this pentacle and made a personal one several years ago.

I have been able to test it many times on behalf of folks involved in both criminal and civil proceedings. Results have included charges being dropped, fines and financial penalties lowered, jail avoided, and cases dismissed. However, conversations with Verchiel resulted in me and my testers petitioning this pentacle for issues outside of the courtroom. One tester even reported petitioning Verchiel to resolve client dissatisfaction after implementing an unpopular new policy about missed appointments.

Based on the ongoing results and conversations with Verchiel, I would say this pentacle is about resolving personal injustice, not just legal matters. This broadens the scope considerably, because not all grievances wind up in court.

I admit I was curious about how he fulfills this role, so with the help of my partner, I asked*. In these discussions with Verchiel, the word “justice” came up often. He acknowledged that justice, like beauty, can be in the eye of the beholder. It is our determination of injustice that he will work towards solving, righting the wrongs we hold tight. He was also clear that he will not spite our enemies.

The images that went with this conversation portrayed Verchiel’s light shining forth and both illuminating and compelling what needs to be done for justice, whoever needs to do it. Like the other angels I work with, I have been very pleased with his results.

Some readers may wonder if this pentacle can be made when the sun is not in Leo and the answer is ‘yes’. I have made them all year, on Sundays in the planetary hour of the sun. Once consecrated, it can be used to petition Verchiel at any time. I recommend burning a solar incense like frankincense for Verchiel, if possible.
