A Pentacle of Pisces

I recently made a post mentioning a rule from a group I run, about how folks should disclose where they got their information. I have always wanted to know whether people are speaking about their own tested experiences, or conversations they had with spirits or if they are repeating something they read or heard.

A few folks focused on the name of the rule which is “unverified personal gnosis” or UPG, as something that can’t ever be verified. However information received directly from spirits or deities can sometimes be verified, which happened to me this week

This year I have been working on contacting the zodiacal angels and making their pentacles. I have blogged about one of the pentacles under the office of Leo before.

I first encountered the pentacle of Pisces in the Veritable Key of Solomon by Stephen Skinner & David Rankine.
Though the pentacles are listed under the seven planets, I recognized it as a zodiacal pentacle because it mentions the angel of Pisces.

The listing says it is “against apoplexy” known in modern terms as strokes. While a somewhat narrow description, it is still useful because I have several friends and family members who have had strokes or are at increased risk for having them.

I made several and was able to establish a strong connection with the angel Barchiel. As is my custom, I had questions for the angel, including questions about his nature and office.*

Information Gained by Spirit Contact

Barchiel said that there is a seed in one’s heart and when it is watered, vital essence spreads evenly through the body. The coolness of this energy prevents the humors from mixing. I specifically asked about humoric theory, and he stated that he is “ruler of coolness in the body. Yellow bile and the choleric temperament.” He stated that the prevention of strokes is incidental to this balancing of humors.

Information Gained by Testing

This was fascinating to hear, and I set about testing it on other issues. In one case a friend with a neurological issue that causes involuntary movements, benefited immediately. Since they started wearing it, they have had no severe seizures, and only minor uncontrolled movements which I expect will improve over time.

Information Gained by Books

The pentacles of the zodiac angels are mentioned in several grimoires, and cross referencing all the various entries is part of this project. This weekend while I was browsing Paracelsvs “Of the Supreme Mysteries of Nature. Of The Spirits of the
Planets. [Of] Occult Philosophy. The Magical, Sympathetical, and Antipathetical Cure of Wounds and Diseases. The Mysteries of the twelve Signs of the Zodiack”

I found the following description under Pisces:

“This is an admirable instrument to loose and expel Choler, of which do grow many grievous Diseases, as Contractures, the Palsie, shrinking of the Joynts, Burnings, etc. against which it gives wonderful help to men or women: it mitigateth the pain of the Gout, takes away the Cramp, and all Griefs proceeding from Fluxes.”

I was surprised and validated to see the mention of Pisces being linked to humoral theory. Barchiel said he was the ruler of coolness in the body, and Paracelsus says this pentacle ‘expels Choler” which is warm and dry.

I’m excited by this connection and look forward more research with the zodiac angels.

*Spirit communication is an imperfect art that often involves an attempt to make sense of words and images representing both metaphorical and literal meanings, with beings who have wildly different contexts for even basic concepts. This article represents the best efforts of two experienced practitioners to faithfully convey the information from the spirits.
