As many folks already know, I am extremely interested in Egyptian magic. For several years I have been exploring Egyptian spells related to healing and curing ailments. As a proof of concept and to test my understanding of the principles of heka, I have written a spell to call on Amun to aid folks who are having trouble breathing. I worked with friends who had several types of respiratory distress for eight months and have decided that this spell works so well it needs to be shared sooner rather than later. Special thanks to Nicanthiel Hrafnhild for their linguistic help.
The spell instructions are extremely simple. After making the offering, which could be as easy as setting out a glass of water, recite the prayer one or more times. You will know it worked if it grants immediate relief.
Make an offering. Possibilities include: incense, fruit, flowers, alcohol, or just plain water. Avoid incense if it will worsen your breathing.
Speak the following:
I call on you, The Living One, Amun!
You are he who is the backbone of heaven, shining on the horizon!
You are mighty in sustaining life and tireless in healing.
It is you who allows breath in the throats of gods, men, birds, snakes, and fish!
Issue forth air that holds open every nose, very gifted for rescuing the afflicted.
Come to me, give breath to me
Let me remain alive and be healed through seeing you.
Let me enter into the good temple of the Lord of Eternity and be healed!
