Petitioning Pentacles

You’re looking in the palm of your hand at your gleaming treasure from Practical Occult. 

You’re a Discerning Individual who is the proud owner of one (or more!) of our many offerings. Pentacle in hand, you wonder how best to get it going in your life for maximum results. Do you just keep it nearby or on you and let it do it’s thing? Do you set it up in an elaborate candle ritual with offerings, prayers, orphic hymns and colorful adornments favored by the planet that governs it? Is there a secret, third option?

Luckily for you, there is!

While simply owning the pentacle will benefit you via proximity and resonance, you can also petition the spirits therein for specific aid. A Second of Venus will make you more charismatic, charming and attractive, for example, but holding it in your hands and whispering something to the tune of, “spirits of Venus, make so-and-so particularly receptive to my business offer” is a good way to laser-focus what is normally a glowing nimbus of light. 

You can ask your Third of the Sun, for example, to bring specific treasures and growth to the kingdom that is your life. You can ask the Second of Jupiter to specifically boost your self-employed endeavors. You can ask the 2nd of Mars to aggressively treat specific symptoms in a loved one miles away by laying it atop their photograph!

The spirits that empower these mystical treasures are very real, very cunning and very motivated to help you make your life as good as it can be. They are not, however, mind-readers (except for maybe the Mercury ones but that’s another story) and may need a bit of direction from time-to-time for best results for their owners. 

Some people write us asking, almost sheepishly, if talking to the amulets is helpful. Far from something that should make you feel foolish, this is precisely how they should be engaged with. As true operative animists, we at Practical Occult can only encourage this practice!

Now, for those who want to take it to the next level and who are, themselves, in various sorcerous currents, systems and traditions, we have further suggestions. Don’t be shy about laying your pentacles upon an altar, a poppet or a candle spell and asking those spirits to add their power to your otherwise empowered working. This is a planetary force-multiplier that has changed the game for many an occultist over the years.
